THE LAST FIVE YEARS

Fra Fee (Les Miserables, Candide) and Amy Lennox (9 To 5, Legally Blonde) are set to star in Jason Robert Brown’s award-winning musical ‘The Last Five Years’ at the Lyric Theatre, Belfast from 24th June - 4th July 2015.

To book tickets call 02890 381081 or visit www.lyrictheatre.co.uk.

The Last Five Years premiered at Chicago's Northlight Theatre in 2001 and was subsequently produced at Off-Broadway's Minetta Lane Theatre in 2002. The U.K. premiere at the Menier Chocolate Factory in 2006 starred Lara Pulver and Damian Humbley, with a gala staging at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket in 2008 starring Paul Spicer and Julie Atherton.  A film adaptation starring Oscar-nominated Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan was released in the US in February 2015 and on DVD on 4th May.

The show revolves around the relationship between the young talented novelist Jamie and an aspiring actress Cathy with a clever story-telling device; all of Cathy’s songs begin at the end of their marriage and move backwards in time while Jamie’s songs start at the beginning of their affair and move forward to the end of their marriage.  They physically meet on stage only once, at their wedding

The production is directed by Stephen Whitson whose current projects include Little Women (Old Rep Theatre, Birmingham) and Elegies (Criterion Theatre, London). He is also currently the Associate Director for Cameron Mackintosh’s production of Barnum. Musical direction is by Mark McGrath.

To book tickets call 02890 381081 or visit www.lyrictheatre.co.uk.

Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris

  • Lyric Theatre, Belfast www.lyrictheatre.co.uk (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

While Jacques Brel is no longer alive, well or living in Paris, the singer/songwriter’s legendary vision of romance, humour and moral conviction endure. Each song in this contemporary musical revue tells a story and examines themes of love, war, being young and growing old…but never forgetting that life, with all its tragedies and complexities, is filled with humour.

'Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris' is a powerful and bold theatrical experience that was an overwhelming success in its original off-Broadway production in 1968 and in subsequent runs in Sydney, Paris, Amsterdam and Dublin. Brel’s songs are as relevant today as they were when they were written.

Matthew Johnson directs this exciting new production for Blunt Fringe who return to the Lyric Theatre after their successful inaugural performance at the Naughton Studio earlier this year.

Starring Colette Lennon, Gerard McCabe, Philip Rham and Joanna Strand

Musical Theatre 2-day Workshop

A Workshop with Fra Fee and Scarlett Strallen

A 2-day workshop with two stars of the musical theatre scene - Fra Fee (Les Misérables, Candide) and award-winning Scarlett Strallen (Mary Poppins, Singin' In The Rain, A Chorus Line) who played the role of Mary Poppins in the West End and on Broadway.

Concentrating on every aspect of the process, from song selection, text appraisal, musical awareness and vocal expertise, this workshop is an enlightening and instructive experience for those wishing to hone their skills in Musical Theatre Performance.

Using the brilliant material of Rogers & Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim and Schönberg , & Boublil, participants will enjoy the experience of working alongside world-class performers in a professional and highly creative environment.  Students of theatre, budding performers or those simply wishing to learn a lot more about the process of acting through song will benefit a great deal from the understanding and experience of Scarlett and Fra.  While not compulsory or guaranteed, participants may have the opportunity themselves to work on material with Scarlett and Fra so bringing along a well-prepared song for that purpose is encouraged.
